In a joint effort, UNICEF partnered with the Kaduna state government to establish a mobile testing laboratory that made visits to several local government areas, including Chikun, Zaria, and Soba. This innovative initiative aims to close the healthcare accessibility gap for individuals residing in areas where healthcare facilities are either absent or distant by delivering essential services directly to their communities.

The primary focus of this outreach effort was directed towards women in general and their infants. A significant number of them were diagnosed with prevalent illnesses such as malaria and typhoid, for which they received complimentary medication.

Liuwei Pearson, the Associate Director of Maternal and Newborn Child at UNICEF in New York, along with UNICEF staff from Nigeria, conducted a visit to the primary healthcare center located in Chikun Local Government Area. Their purpose was to inspect the new facilities that UNICEF is constructing to bolster the healthcare system in Kaduna State.
